This first production of our Fifteenth Season celebrates three artists, two from roughly the same period in history: Secular Songs of the Englishman John Dowland (1563-1626) and Madrigals for five voices of the Italian composer Don Carlo Gesualdo (1566-1613). The third artist is America’s first poet Mistress Anne Bradstreet (1612-1672). These delightful Dowland songs feature Clara Osowski, mezzo soprano and Linh Kaufmann in the poetry of Bradstreet. Period instruments (theorbos, lutes and viols) will accompany the voices.
